The Miami Dolphins draft day was a whirlwind of craziness which you most likely already know unless you live under a rock. Even then you may have still heard about it. I am suggesting that it shouldn’t be over yet and Tannebaum should be working day and night to get Jack from north Florida to south Florida.

Laremy Tunsil was not the only player that suffered an unprecedented slide in the draft as Miles Jack, who I considered to be the 2nd best player in the draft (behind Laremy Tunsil) had a knee concern that caused him to fall all the way to pick No. 36. Number 2 prospect, pick No. 36

I am not a doctor and I won’t pretend to be but for the caliber of player Myles Jack is and for him to fall that far, there must be something seriously wrong with that knee. He is a pro-bowl caliber player already and how a team doesn’t bite in the 1st round is insane to me.

Multiple reports have come out that Miami was prepared to take Jack at No. 13 but Tunsil’s slide was unpredictable and gave Miami better value at that spot. Also taking Tunsil over Jack means Miami doesn’t have to worry about Jack’s knee ruining his career before he starts while using pick 13 in the process.

As Miami Dolphins G.M., I am calling David Caldwell and offering him my 2017 1st round pick. I would normally never get behind a move like this because I don’t like mortgaging picks and especially trading a 1st round pick for a 2nd rounder. But this situation is very different.

Myles Jack reminds me of Derrick Brooks. He is an All-Star and he just keeps getting better. Like I said, I thought he was the 2nd best player in the draft and the best LB I have seen in years. Forget covering TE’s, this guy can cover slot receivers and on top of that he can pop an O-lineman at the point of attack and fills gaps with aggression. He has more power and explosiveness than his frame suggests and has great instincts in zone coverage. He is just an above average tackler but I believe he will improve this like everything else he works at.

Now hopefully I have convinced you of his talent. Now hear me out on the strategy part of trading next years 1st round pick for him.

I agree with Miami that he was worthy of the 13th pick in this draft and that the value was there even though it was a risk due to injury. However if Miami thought he was worthy of the 13th pick this year he should be worth a 1st round pick next year. (Hopefully worse than 13th) If you trade the 36th pick and No. 2 talent in this draft for the assumed 13th pick in 2017 then I think Caldwell bites on that.

I would celebrate this move. Bringing in Jack helps a LB unit that needs talent and Kiko Alonso, Jelani Jenkins and Koa Misi always seem to be dealing with injuries. Misi has been mediocre at best when healthy and is overpaid. Alonso and Jenkins are both on the final year of their rookie contracts. This means more shifts are certainly on the horizon at the position and of the group, Jenkins is the only guy I think has proven durable enough and talented enough to stay around after this year. (I am intentionally ignoring Dion Jordan because you can’t even count on him to be on the field)

Myles Jack is a pro-bowl level player today, without even playing a down in the NFL yet. The injury is obviously a concern but for a player of his caliber I would be more willing to risk it for the biscuit. If he was a top ten pick on Miami’s board this year, they should swing him for next years first and know that having him on this team only reduces next years 1st round pick value because we are just that much better this year.

Tell me what you think below, but no matter what I won’t be convinced that this wouldn’t be a great deal. If I’m Miami’s G.M., I’m getting it done.
