Last week the Dolphins were unable to fill all of their corner back needs in the draft. They selected 2nd rounder Xavien Howard but Miami needs a little more help than one player despite adding Byron Maxwell in a trade with the Eagles. Enter Leon Hall.
Hall played the last four years under new Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph while he was with the Bengals. A ten year veteran, Hall has the size and physicality Miami wants in the secondary. He could be a potential fit as a nickel corner for the Dolphins.
The biggest knock on Hall is that he is coming off an injury season where he started only four games of the 14 he played last season and has had two Achille’s injuries in his career. He says that he is currently healthy.
Hall has visited two other teams but it’s unlikely that he will sign a contract prior to May 12th. The 12th is the day when teams can sign players to their roster that will not count against next years compensatory picks. Miami traded a 3rd and 4th rounder in 2017 during last weeks draft and will need to make sure they don’t disrupt their current situation. Miami is expected to gain at least one third and possibly two 4th roundes in next years draft.
Hall can help the team in a lot of ways and he already knows the defensive scheme under Joseph. While no date is set just yet, it’s likely that Hall will wait out the 12th as the Sun-Sentinel reports he would love to be reunited with Joseph in Miami.
