Post week 1 AFC East review
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins and the rest of the AFC East teams have all finished their first week of football. What the teams did in week one won’t determine the rest of the season.

After the last game, New England and Arizona concluded late last night, the four teams in the AFC East wrapped opening weekend. Of the four teams only New England came away with a victory but the other tree teams lost by the slimmest of margins.
Here is a look at the AFC East after week one.
New England – 1-0
If there is anything surprising about the 1-0 start by the Patriots it’s that they did it against a very powerful defense and a solid offense. And they did it with Jimmy Garappolo at quarterback.
The Patriots played very solid defense in last nights win and Jimmy-G made few mistakes in his NFL debut. The Patriots are staking an early claim to the division yet again and should be that much stronger when they get tight end Rob Gronkowski back who missed the game with an injury.
New England was short many starters and will get Rob Ninkovich and Tom Brady back after week four.
Their next game is at home against the Dolphins.
New York Jets 0-1
The Jets played a tough home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday and almost came away with a victory. New York lost by one point to the Bengals on a late game field goal.
The Jets defense played well against the run but Andy Dalton carved the secondary for 366 yards. Wide-receiver A.J. Green was stellar against Darrell Revis who has definitely lost his claim to having his own island.
Revis and the secondary aside, the Jets boast a strong front seven and their offense should get better as the season progresses.
Next up for the Jets: At the Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills 0-1
The Bills managed to keep the game close for most of the 60 minutes but they could not generate yards or points against a Ravens defense who played more like they did in their Super Bowl years.
The Bills were held to just 166 yards total offense on Sunday. Tyrod Taylor three for 111 yards and the Bills run game contributed around 60 but Taylor was sacked twice and Reggie Bush had one carry for -4 yards.
The Bills defense held up well holding the Ravens to one touchdown and two field goals but it was enough to put the Bills at 1-0.
Next up for the Bills: New York Jets at home.
Week 2 look ahead
Next week will be a knock down week for the AFC East. All four teams face a division opponent which means that at least one team will start the season 0-2 and possibly two.
The Miami Dolphins will travel to New England and the importance of that game comes with the knowledge that an early season loss will put the Dolphins two games behind the division leader and one game behind the winner of the Bills and Jets.
No game is a must-win in week two of the season but with the Patriots victory on Sunday night the other three teams are looking up once again in the standings. It makes for an important early season weekend.
The Bills and Jets play on a short week. Their game is Thursday night.
