Overlooking an opponent is an easy and dangerous trap to fall into. Looking back at past misfortunes should keep the Miami Dolphins’ guard up and stay on edge Vs suspect QB’s.

One other reason to stay on edge is not falling to a three loss zero win record. Stats have indicted a 12% chance to make the playoffs with just the 0-2 record as is the case now. The next outing (short week) Vs the Bengals is daunting, just don’t fall into a trap game this week.

He had a 98.6 passer rating.— In 2014, Smith had a perfect passer rating of 158.3 while leading the Jets to a 37-24 road victory over the Dolphins in the finale. Smith was 20 of 25 for 358 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.— In 2015, Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Jets to a 27-14 victory over the Dolphins in London. Fitzpatrick was 16 of 29 for 218 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He had a 76.5 passer rating.Granted, none of the quarterbacks listed above was a third-teamer with no NFL experience such as Kessler.The point here, however, is sometimes it doesn’t matter who is playing quarterback.A lightly regarded quarterback could have a big day and win, such as Smith in 2014, or he could live down to expectations and still win, such as Glennon in 2013.So if you think the Dolphins will beat Cleveland on Sunday, hopefully you lean that way because you think the Dolphins are the better team as opposed to who is playing quarterback for the Browns. Choosing the latter would be a huge mistake."

The Dolphins just made backup Jimmy G look all pro; He was on pace for 1k yards last game.

The Browns also have good complementary pieces.

CB Joe Haden: One of the better corners in the league about half the balls thrown his way are caught however half of those he intercepts.

RB Isaiah Crowell: The lead back now after scoring on the Eagles with 62 yards rushing. Last game he scored again on the Ravens rushing for 133 yards

NT Danny Shelton: He is coming off a seven tackle effort on the Ravens while representing 30% of the runs stopped.

WR Corey Coleman: A fine example of letting rookies play, hint Miami Dolphins with Drake. He went from being a prospected punt returner to now having two TD’s and close to 200 yards receiving. This was done over two games with two QB’s so he could adjust to a third one just fine. Update: Coleman would have done fine but he broke his hand in practice Wed. and is likely out Sunday.

It is perplexing how often suspect QB’s have snuck away with wins over recent seasons. What exacerbates this is that many times it was in the AFC East. The Dolphins record in their own division has been awful culminating with just one win last season. Even if this season turns out to be a rebuild at least get into the mode of being competitive within the AFC East.

With the Patriots off to a 3-0 record starting their 2nd and even 3rd string QB’s. It is looking like a race to 2nd place within the division again. Eventually the Miami Dolphins being competitive within their own division will payoff. In the meantime building that competitive foundation with a new head coach would be ideal.

One instance that could help matters would be to find an alternative to using Bobby McCain in red zone situations. Over the last two games he has given up a TD in each of  those games.

In conclusion don’t taunt the dog it might comeback to bite.
