This game ran afoul as in too many penalties committed to have much of a chance at winning this game.

Every offensive lineman was called during this game except the one that had been getting grief up until this game Laremy Tunsil. And Ja’Wuan James had to leave the game due to a hamstring injury. Other players on offense also had fouls like Jarvis Landry.

To make matters worse these fouls came at the most inopportune times. The new style of running game was on display with Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake. Some big plays from both of them were for naught due to mostly holding penalties on the offensive line.

This might be due to this offensive line not being up to muster. Or with any hope the line is adjusting to what coach Adam Gase is now doing on offense. Gase can now call the type of game he prefers and not be so reliant on the power run game that the line may have fell into a rut running.

A sign that this offense is more in tune with what Gase normally runs is the emergence of TE Julius Thomas this game who scored a TD and had some nice plays. He also had a nice play called back from penalties on offense.

But the coach has to bear some of the blame here by not having the team ready. However they were taxed on time from having Jay Ajayi shipped off to getting the new duo of lead backs put in place.

Julius Thomas with the TD, are more to come?

Devante Parker: what a catch! Hey Gase maybe call this one more.

Jarvis Landry keeps getting TD’s!

Damien Williams goes in for the score.

As advertised

Failing to cover TE’s:The word must be out by now that this defense can not cover TE’s. Blame it all on Kiko Alonso if you like as he got burned early and often. But even after someone else got that coverage there were still leaks late in the game.

Still missing in action

Playing with discipline: Getting called for over ten penalties and the over one hundred yards that came with it is no way to get into a winning position. Most of these were called on the offensive line for holding. 11 penalties for 107 yards.

Defense: allowed the third most yardage on the season with 343 yards. While not looking horrible this game. They also couldn’t pull off many gifts to the offense after they had just about carried them to this point coming into this game.

Pleasant surprises

The new style running game: both Williams and Drake looked good. There had been come consternation among fans whether they could both hold up to the added playing time. And as stated already it could only get better from here if and when this line and components gets used to the new style of play.

Drake gained 69 yards on 9 carries and caught 6 passes for 35 yards. 15 touches for 104 yards.
Williams gained 14 yards on 7 carries and caught 6 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. 13 touches for 61 yards and a TD.

Phi-injury report: Ja’Wuan James, hamstring injury never returned to game. Ndamukong Suh left the game injured but did return not long afterward.

Phin fact: Jarvis Landry set an NFL record for the most receptions in the first four seasons of his career when he got to 343 and still counting.

The Miami Dolphins lost this game 27-24 on a night when Jay Cutler topped 300 yards for the first time this season after having a nice string going early in the game with no incompletions.

Whenever I see a game where penalties play a part. I am reminded of the great coach Don Shula and how he took pride in having his team with the least penalties. While it may seem like a plain thing it does win games in the end.
