Fans wanting more Matt Moore might be waiting awhile. Jay Cutler is the primary starter for this weeks game in New England despite his concussion.

When Jay Cutler didn’t return to the field last week against Tampa Bay a lot of people were like “here we go again”. Matt Moore led a comeback that was stifled by poor defensive play and not poor play on his own.

Cutler’s three interceptions in the first half were not all his fault but Cutler’s “never-care” attitude has grown thin with the Dolphins fan-base. So much so that many would rather ride out the season with the questionable Matt Moore.

Following Sunday’s loss Adam Gase said that Cutler was the starting quarterback this week if he is healthy. The question is will he be healthy? Still in the concussion protocol, Cutler did a little bit of work this week as the Dolphins prepare for the Patriots in Foxboro, MA.

This could all be gamesmanship on the part of Adam Gase who could be pulling a Bill Belichick and keeping the status of his starters under wraps but one thing is glaring. Gase loves Jay Cutler and no one outside of that relationship really knows why.

Cutler was supposed to be that big arm quarterback who could sling it downfield but he rarely does that. In fact he has completed more passes to the blades of grass five yards in front of him than he has downfield. Early on it appeared that maybe the Cutler to DeVante Parker connection would provide a spark to the offense but that too has not really come to fruition.

Moore isn’t going to lead the Dolphins to six straight wins and he isn’t going to lead the Dolphins to a playoff spot. Miami’s mathematical chances are slim at best despite being only two games back of the sixth seed. They simply are playing the same caliber of football they were when the season started and that wasn’t good then.

Cutler has had one good game all season long and that was in a loss to Oakland. They are about to face a Patriots team who has fixed their early season problems and are once again the favorites in the AFC.

Miami fans may not know who the starting quarterback is until the day of the game on Sunday. It’s best that fantasy players stay by their rosters just before kick-off to decide if they will play Moore or Jay Cutler. I’m kidding.
