The Miami Dolphins are hoping to add another defensive tackle hours after trading for one. The team is hosting Terrell McClain today.

On Thursday the Miami Dolphins traded a conditional 7th round draft pick in 2019 for defensive tackle Akeem Spence but apparently the position hasn’t been addressed enough. According to the Miami Heralds’ Barry Jackson, the Dolphins are hosting Terrell McClain today.

McClain has been in the league since 2011 when he joined the league with the Carolina Panthers. His stay was not long as in 2012 he played for both Houston and New England. He spent 2013 with the Texans and then joined Dallas from 2014 to 2016 before moving to the Redskins in 2017.

In total, McClain has 29 starts in 74 games. He has 6.5 sacks over his career and 75 tackles. Last season he started two games for the Redskins.

The Dolphins are trying to add depth to unit that uses a lot of rotation along the defensive line. Miami is working at replacing Ndamukong Suh who they released in March. The Dolphins will get $17 million in cap relief on June 1st for that release.

McClain will push sophomore Vincent Taylor. The Dolphins are high on Taylor but added depth is a need at the position. If the Dolphins sign McClain, they will have Akeem Spence, Vincent Taylor, Jordan Phillips, Davon Godchaux, and Gabe Wright.

Miami ranked near the bottom in rushing defense last season and are trying to fix the problem. Linebackers hurt the Dolphins as well last season in this department. The team added two linebacker during the mid-round of last months draft and signed a free agent linebacker to go with Kiko Alonso and returning Raekwon McMillan.
