Glenn Blackwood – 1979 – 1987

Glenn Blackwood spent his entire nine-year NFL career with the Miami Dolphins and six of those were spent next to his brother Lyle in the Dolphins secondary. Lyle had a pretty good NFL career that spanned a total of 14 NFL seasons, six with the Miami Dolphins. Perhaps they both should be honored.

Glenn Blackwood was the Dolphins starting strong safety for all but the 1979 season, his rookie year. In 1987 injuries finally led him to retirement. Over his career he played in 118 games and started 106 of them. He had 29 interceptions and 399 tackles with one touchdown. Adding three fumbles and 14 fumble recoveries to his resume, Blackwood was a reliable hard-hitting safety and a member of the 1980’s “Killer-B” defense.
