Can DeVante Parker shake the injury bug and stay on the field?
By Sean Moon
The Miami Dolphins are not sure when wide-receiver DeVante Parker will be back but the bigger question is can he finally stop getting hurt and stay on the field?
DeVante Parker gets hit with the injury bug again! This time he breaks his finger on his hand and cannot catch the ball to practice. So how many chances do you give an athlete that continually shows he cannot take care of his body and under achieves season after season?
Typically a wide-out’s third year is his break out season (that has come and gone), while Parker did have some productive moments he has yet to take over games, or, breakout.
Earlier this summer in an interview after a practice, wide receivers coach Ben Johnson said, “The biggest thing for him is we were making these giant claims about him last year; Right now, it’s one day at a time.” I’m sorry but my number one receiver needs to handle all the expectations, all the negativity and mold all of that into motivation.
Every time you see a flash from DeVante Parker, it’s soon followed by some kind of ailment. This is now a problem.

In an article by Armando Salguero in 2016 coach Gase said, “So that’s been our point of emphasis with him is all the little tiny things that you have to do off the field, in the building, and then when you get out to practice you have to treat every day like a game. Sometimes it takes some guys a little longer to learn than others. Eventually it gets to the point where you get tired of being the guy standing on the sideline”.
Well it appears that this doesn’t bother Mr. Parker. It appears he hasn’t learned how to take care of himself. So again, when he needs to be on the field improving, creating chemistry with Tannehill, he’ll be sitting on the sideline.
The Dolphins refuse to trade DeVante Parker or haven’t found a suitable trade offer. I just don’t see a number one in this receiver except for the numbers on his jersey, but the simple fact is he cannot stay on the field and his days should be numbered.
