The Miami Dolphins are releasing a player they signed only one day ago and are adding a running back to the roster per sources.

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, via Twitter, the Miami Dolphins are going to shuffle the bottom of their roster, again. One day after signing center Travis Swanson the team is moving on in favor of a free agent running back.

Taking Swanson’s place on the roster is former New England Patriot running back Brandon Bolden. Bolden has been in the league since 2012 and has played his entire career with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. He has 912 rushing yards and six touchdowns in his career.

He will join a crowded backfield with Kenyan Drake, Frank Gore, Kalen Ballage, and Sinorise Perry. Jeremy Langford is on the practice squad. The move is somewhat surprising.

Miami’s tailbacks are pretty good so the addition of Bolden seems to be more about special teams play. Bolden contributed to special teams with the Patriots. The move will further bring up the discussion regarding Miami’s quarterback situation.

More from Dolphins News

The Dolphins currently have four quarterbacks on the roster and Adam Gase told the media following practice this weekend that he intends to carry three quarterbacks through the 2018 season.

Luke Falk was added over the weekend and Miami has to keep him for at least two weeks. Perhaps the plan was to bend the ear of Falk ahead of the Tennessee Titans game on Sunday. Falk spent the entire training camp and off-season with the Titans.

This is the 2nd time that the Dolphins have released, signed, signed, released an offensive lineman in a matter of days. The Dolphins cut Sam Young on Sunday, re-signed him on Monday then signed Swanson on Monday and now have released him a day later.

No information is available yet about why the team decided that Swanson wasn’t a good fit. That being said, the way the Dolphins are working now, Swanson may be added to the team again tomorrow.
