The Miami Dolphins will be down to three healthy receivers for Thursday nights game one of them is DeVante Parker. For now at least.

On Thursday night the Miami Dolphins will play the Houston Texans in Texas and there are serious questions about what to do at wide-receiver. Kenny Stills will likely miss the game with a groin injury. He did not practice today. Albert Wilson is now out for an unspecified amount of time with a hip injury, perhaps all season.

This leaves the Dolphins with undersized Jakeem Grant and Danny Amendola. Enter DeVante Parker. Parker has been inactive for all but two games this year. After the game when asked by the media about Parker, Gase said that Parker will likely play because he doesn’t have any more receivers.

That isn’t true and it’s likely that Miami will activate one or two from the practice squad. Isaiah Ford and Leonte Carroo are both on the practice team unit and could get promoted as early as tomorrow.

Speculation about a trade of DeVante Parker has been pretty much put to rest with the injuries to the other two receivers. The NFL trade deadline is October 30th at 4:00 so while the talk has quite down, it’s still a possibility. Especially if either Carroo or Ford play on Thursday and play well.

Miami has been hit each week with injuries. The offensive line starters took a hit, the defensive line and defensive ends took a hit as did the corners, specifically Bobby McCain. Even Ryan Tannehill is out. For the most part many are back healthy but this new round of receiver injuries is a major blow to an offense who has been playing well.

Yesterday’s loss to the Lions was not because of injuries, those occurred when the game was already pretty much lost although it did not help the team make a comeback which they were in position to do in the waning minutes. Without the extra help Miami couldn’t mount much of an effort.

The short week doesn’t help for sure but as Adam Gase said the to media, they are not “cancelling the season”. No they are not but the Dolphins need to play better defensively and they need to figure out what to on offense where they are still getting no returns early in the game. Miami has no scores on their first drives of games this season.

Miami will face a tough front defensive line again this week and need their running game to pick up the slack. The Texans will likely try to take the running game away and force Miami to beat them with their passing game.

With Parker now likely to play and a full participant at practice, it’s time for Brock Osweiler to get up to speed with him. Osweiler said that he has not thrown any practice rep passes to Parker at all and that will need to change by Thursday night.
