The Miami Dolphins are entering the final stretch of their 2018 season and whether it ends after six more game or continues is up to them.

Since the Miami Dolphins have been on a bye week little has been discussed regarding the plethora of injuries that have marred the team. There will not be any “new” news on that front until the team returns to practice this week.

The Dolphins are hoping to have Ryan Tannehill back at some point but in the immediate future they need to get answers on DeVante Parker, Laremy Tunsil, Bobby McCain, Ja’Wuan James, and Jakeem Grant. The Dolphins have six games left in the 2018 season and if they want it to continue beyond those six, they need as many players healthy as they can get.

Miami will face the Indianapolis Colts this week but they also the Bills twice and the Patriots, Vikings, and Jaguars ahead. It is not an easy road but the Dolphins are still in the playoff chase. A single loss could curtail that effort depending on what happens around the AFC over that same period.

The Colts are playing good football with Andrew Luck back behind center after missing last season with a shoulder injury. Miami needs their defense to play at the level they did against the New York Jets and not at the level they played the Lions and Packers. That will not be easy.

The 2018 season started out with a lot of excitement after they finished the pre-season with only a couple of injuries but none to major key players. They hit the season fast with a 3-0 start but the wheels soon fell off as more and more players went down with injuries.

Now with the season entering the final six weeks the Dolphins have to find a way to play their best football. They will need to do it with a back-up quarterback and a patchwork offensive line as well as a receiving group that has been decimated by injury.

On defense it is hard to know what unit is going to show up. Miami has been wildly inconsistent leading many to speculate on upcoming changes if Miami fails to make the post-season. For the Dolphins and some of the coaches, these last six weeks will go a long way to providing a glimpse into what 2019 might look like.
