Davon Godchaux – DT – 24 years old

We could probably put Godchaux and Vincent Taylor in here together and we should. Both of them are key components of the Dolphins defensive front and while singularly neither are the Ndamukong Suh types they are cornerstone pieces that work very well with the right type of support.

Both players are growing and have high ceilings. It’s unclear if either can develop into a major defensive juggernaut at defensive tackle but both are showing that they can handle the chore of getting pocket pressure.

Obviously run defense is a problem and I wonder if that is more coaching and scheme than the talents of these two individuals, especially Godchaux.

This is only the 2nd season for both players and while Taylor in on IR, Godchaux has increasingly become more consistent but there are a lot of issues on the defensive line that go beyond his play.

The youth and talent that Godchaux has displayed makes him a solid candidate for the future of the Dolphins front seven. It is so hard to judge the front defensive line because of the continued rotations that Matt Burke uses.

Godchaux has a lot of potential and should be a contributing fixture for the years ahead.
