Miami Dolphins Frank Gore could be done for the year
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins finally lost a running back to add to their pro-bowl injured reserve line-up. On Sunday, Frank Gore went down with an ankle injury.
Whether or not the Miami Dolphins put Frank Gore on the IR is not known. His ankle was not broken and an MRI today will tell if there is any ligament damage in the ankle. Gore has had an exceptional season with the Dolphins but depending on what they find in the MRI, he may have played his last game this season.
Of course the next question would be if Gore is out the rest of the year what will happen this off-season? Gore has been a great leader and teammate but he is also 35 years old and will turn 36 before the next season starts. His one year contract will expire so do the Dolphins re-sign him?
It is an interesting conversation. Gore has been adding to his Hall of Fame career all season moving up in the all-time rushing and all-time yards from scrimmage categories. But he has no touchdowns despite being a bell cow runner.
More interesting is what is going on with Kenyan Drake? On Sunday it was Kalen Ballage who stepped into the role of top runner after Gore left at the end of the first quarter. Last weeks hero, Drake was hardly seen doing much more than blocking and then making an occassional run.

- 4 offensive tackles Miami Dolphins could draft at 51
- Miami Dolphins don’t need CB help but these 5 could be available at 51
- 4 players that could replace Wilkins if Miami Dolphins don’t re-sign him
- Miami Dolphins have a starting point with Wilkins after Simmons deal
- The Miami Dolphins should not take a running back in the draft
This has been a problem all season long. Drake was supposed to be Miami’s star running back and Gore was supposed to be the change of pace runner that spelled him but that has not been the case and on Sunday, Gase turned to someone else instead of giving it to Drake. Granted Ballage has a lot to learn in terms of blocking and blitz pick-up but then again so does the entire offensive line.
Whether or not Gore will be here in 2019 may very well be up to him. After all these years in the NFL he is not wearing a Super Bowl ring and that could be deciding factor of where he goes next if he doesn’t stay in Miami.
