Is there a chance that Josh Rosen, former first round pick for the Arizona Cardinals, could be traded to the Miami Dolphins? Probably not, but hear me out for a bit.

The rumors of Rosen being traded first started when former head coach of Texas Tech took the coaching job for the Cardinals. Why then? Back In October, when Kingsbury was still a coach at the collegiate level, he said that given the chance, he’d take Murray with the first overall pick.

Again, this was before he had any intention of being a NFL coach, especially for the Cards, so why would he trade what’s probably the main building block to the franchise? Let’s face it, Rosen didn’t have the best year as he finished his rookie season with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions to go along with 2,278 yards. Keep in mind, he started 13 games as the rest was by Sam Bradford.

However, people shouldn’t expect first-year quarterbacks to explode, Rosen seems like the type that will get better as time passes. The one thing draft analysts raved about Rosen was his intellect, which comes rare in a lot of quarterbacks.

With Murray now “fully” committing to the game of football, this could possibly, and I emphasize possibly, make Kingsbury interested.

When dealing with Kingsbury, it’s going to take time for Rosen to get adjusted to the Big 12, spread offense since he attended UCLA. Which is why Kingsbury and Murray could be a match made in heaven. Murray played for what is the king of the Big 12, Oklahoma, to where it could possibly be a smooth transition. With Lincoln Riley as the head coach for OU, Murray excelled in what was a Heisman-winning season.

Let’s talk about the Dolphins, since this is a Dolphins website. Quarterback is a need for the Fins at the moment after seven years with Ryan Tannehill. More specifically, a quarterback for the future. The method that will most likely happen is through the draft, whether it be this year or next. Murray has been connected to the Fins in a bunch of mock drafts.

But if the Cards do draft the junior quarterback from Oklahoma, what will be the trade value for Rosen? If this situation ever happened, I would expect the Dolphins to be involved. I could also imagine mid-round pick, the highest being a 2nd rounder, for Rosen. If I were the Fins, I can make do with that. Fans should feel confident if Rosen happens to be on the roster, but I’d understand the eagerness to want a Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa or a Justin Herbert.

To get real, I would predict that the Cardinals will have no involvement with Murray. Not only would that be juvenile and blatant, but would give off the feeling of giving up on Rosen after a year, just like they did with former Cards coach Steve Wilks. Arizona has a lot of needs, why waste it on a another quarterback?

Kingsbury has come out about the rumors and said: “Every time I’ve turned on the tape, there is something you like and something you can build with,” Kingsbury said on Rosen. He then said “Josh is our guy”.

While this basically shuts down the rumors, websites and reporters are still talking about the heated discussion of it still taking place. I would temper the expectations.
