Miami Dolphins have talent but is a 5 win season realistic in 2019?
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins are one of the teams that many gambling sites believe will be finishing well below .500 this coming season.
We can’t share a lot of gambling site links on this site but it is growing more and more clear that the betting world doesn’t think too highly of the Miami Dolphins talent level on either side of the ball.
As the Dolphins rebuild and quarterback continues to be a major topic for debate, many fans believe that the Dolphins core players are good enough to reach the .500 mark or possibly the 7 win plateau. The gamblers however are putting five wins at the base with over/under betting starting at 5.
For betting purposes I suppose five is a good number for an over/under ticket. I don’t bet on sports so I’m not sure how all that works. What I do know is that Miami has talent and five wins should be about right for this upcoming season.
There are building blocks to work around with the team. Laremy Tunsil, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Xavien Howard are now cornerstone pieces to the teams offense and defense. You could also argue that the wide-receiver group is also talented enough.
The addition of Ryan Fitzpatrick gives the Dolphins a veteran quarterback who can win some games on his arms and lose some due to his mental game. The Dolphins have a tough schedule ahead and picking out wins is not going to be easy.

Aside from the Giants in the NFC West, Miami isn’t expected to win any of those three. Maybe the Redskins game. In the AFC North, it will be hard for the Dolphins as well with the Browns suddenly full of talent and the Ravens being Miami’s Achille’s heal. Pittsburgh will be tough but the Bengals are not expected to be.
There is a myriad of other teams that also will be force-fed to the Dolphins this year. The Chargers and Colts are two of those. Finally the AFC East where Miami will likely split with Buffalo and the Jets. Add it up and you have around five games give or take.
Will that be enough to get the quarterback that the team may be coveting in the 2020 draft? Maybe not. While it is, at this early stage, difficult to imagine them beating any of the teams above that we didn’t list as potential wins, the Dolphins have always played hard against better teams. The question is Brian Flores and how well he prepares the team.
If you are betting fan what would you give the Dolphins winning chances in 2019? Over or under five wins?
