The Miami Dolphins are in need of a quarterback and Drew Lock may not be available at 13 but Dwayne Haskins just might.

When the Miami Dolphins are on the clock at pick 13 provided they don’t trade up, Drew Lock may not be available if the current trend of his draft status continues to rise.

According to many in league circles and in several new mock drafts, the word is that Missouri’s Drew Lock is seeing his stock rise ahead of the draft while Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins is seeing his stock fall.

To say that stock is rising or falling is really nothing new. Players, especially quarterbacks, regularly see their draft stock change in the weeks and even days before the draft. This is after all the time of year when teams start to leak misinformation in the hopes that another more targeted choice falls.

For the quarterbacks this year it is interesting though. Once considered the lock for the first pick in this years draft, Dwayne Haskins started to fall when Kyler Murray declared for the draft and announced his commitment to football over baseball.

Many believed after the combine that Haskins would still be drafted in the top five but then that became the top ten and now he may be available at 13. If the speculation is accurate. Haskins has a big arm and is accurate but there are many concerned with the amount of tape on the one year starter for the Buckeyes.

For a lot of fans, seeing Haskins fall would be a dream come true but that does not mean the Dolphins would be interested. There are conflicting reports that the Dolphins are not interested in any first round quarterback in 2019 but that they still remain high on the 2020 draft class.

For Lock, it’s a matter of taste. Lock is a gunslinging QB who could easily become the next great quarterback or the next Jay Cutler. Some have suggested that his willingness to throw the ball where it should not be thrown will be his downfall while others insist that he could be as much Brett Favre as Cutler.

Lock makes mistakes and there is no question about that. He is smart but also has a bit of an ego according to some in NFL circles. Not necessarily in a bad way. His teammates reportedly love playing with him and he has a lot of leadership qualities. Many recent mocks have him going to the Broncos in round one.
