Miami Dolphins continue their look at the Allegiance of American Football players signing a total of seven former members of the league as of now.

The Miami Dolphins have signed seven players from the AAF as of Tuesday. They have signed Guard Michael Dunn, Linebacker Jayrone Ellliott, Running back Kenneth Farrow, Tackle Jaryd Jones-Smith, Linebacker Tyrone Holmes, Wide receiver Reece Horn and Defensive tackle Joey Mbu. Elliott was leading the league with 7.5 sacks when the AAF suspended play after seven weeks.

Michael Dunn was Miami’s first signing from the AAF player pool. He Played for the Birmingham Iron. He’s an offensive guard and has some NFL experience with the the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 and the Jacksonville Jaguars 2018. With the Jaguars he played under the Dolphins offensive line coach, Patrick Flaherty.

Jayrone Elliott played for the San Antonio Commanders. He was tied for the AAF lead with 7.5 sacks when the league was suspended. He also totaled 22 tackles with14 solo. Elliott played three seasons (2014-16) with the Green Bay Packers. Following those three seasons, he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys and then was with the New Orleans Saints until the end of training camp in 2018.

Kenneth Farrow played for the San Antonio Commanders. He totaled 106 carries for 372 yards (3.5 avg.) his 372 rushing yards were tied for second in the AAF. Farrow played in 13 games with two starts for the San Diego Chargers in 2016. He had also spent some time on New England’s practice squad in 2018.

The Dolphins lack depth at running back so Farrow could see a good workload through camp and the pre-season. Miami will likely add a mid-round runner in this month’s draft.

Jayrd Jones-Smith played for the San Antonio Commanders. He spent the 2018 offseason and training camp with the Houston Texans after entering the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Houston.

Tyrone Holmes played for the San Antonio Commanders. He was drafted by Jacksonville in the sixth round in 2016, spent some of 2016 in Jacksonville and the remainder of 2016-2017 with the Cleveland Browns. In 2017-2018 he was with Kansas City and finished the 2018 season with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Holmes’ best shot of making the roster will likely be on special teams. The Dolphins consider the LB spot a need and could draft one early later this month.

Reece Horn played for the Memphis Express and totaled 28 receptions for 429 yards (15.3 avg.) and one touchdown. His 429 receiving yards were fourth in the AAF. Horn was with the Tennessee Titans during offseason and training camp of 2016, He also played for a bit in Europe.

Joey Mbu played for the San Antonio Commanders. Joey Mbu was with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015, Washington Redskins 2016-2017, Indianapolis Colts 2017 and Green Bay 2018.

Miami hopes to find value in these AAF players. Miami needed to add more players to their roster and have found some players to get through camp and hopefully develop. The Dolphins are still well below the 90 roster limit and will need to fill those holes.

Many believe that the Dolphins will look to the veteran free agent market once the draft has concluded. Traditionally players that are picked off the free agent list at that time are cheap one year deals. Miami is also expected to be very active in the undrafted free agent market.
