The Miami Dolphins are in need of defensive tackle help and ProfootballFocus.com has released their NFL Draft top 15 DT list.

When the Miami Dolphins are on the clock, they could be looking at defensive tackle where Clemson’s Christian Wilkins is drawing a lot of attention from people who think they know where the Dolphins are going with that first pick. Where does he rank on the PFF list? Pretty high actually.

PFF ranks Quinnen Williams of Alabama as the top interior defensive player in this years draft. That is not a surprise as many feel that Williams is the best defensive tackle in this class but there isn’t a huge drop off after Williams.

The list has Jerry Tillery of Notre Dame listed as the 2nd DT in the class.  Tillery is projected to go anywhere between the late first and middle second round. He has a lot of upside and could be a surprise early pick in the top 20 by a DT needy franchise.

After Tillery, Jeffery Simmons pops in at number three. We discussed Simmons earlier in a post regarding his draftability with the ACL tear. You can read that here.

Many believe that Ed Oliver of Houston will be gone by pick 13 but Christian Wilkins might be available. His stock has been rising of late. Dexter Lawerence who comes in at number six is considered a late first or day two early pick.

This draft is deep with talent at the position and if the Dolphins pass on a DT in round one or the one they want isn’t available, they should have no problem finding one on day two when the 2nd and 3rd rounds are held.

Texas Tech’s Kinglesy Keke is a mid-round prospect who could come into play if things don’t shake out for the Dolphins early. He has a good motor and is coachable. Something Miami needs as they get younger.

There is a lot of talk about defensive tackle this week but Miami also needs edge rushers and offensive lineman. They don’t have the picks to fix everything so getting it right is more important than anything else when it comes to drafting the right guy.
