Miami Dolphins find themselves in a familiar situation with the draft
By Sean Moon
A familiar situation for the Miami Dolphins as another draft is looming and Miami ponders selecting another quarterback that can make them great again.
All the smokescreen and chatter for the last several months comes to a head, we wait to see what the Miami Dolphin will actually do. Who will be there at thirteen? Which side of the ball will they draft first? More importantly will they choose a franchise quarterback?
The names have boiled down to a few QB’s, Murray, Haskins, Lock and maybe Rosen. If none of those are an option for the Dolphins come the thirteenth pick, half the fan base will throw a fit on social media, the other half will praise the patience by the front office.
With so many needs on this team there really is no dumb plan. You go after the best guy on the board in your weakest area and let the chips fall. I don’t think the Dolphins necessarily need to trade down though, because no matter how it unfolds there will be a quality player at the thirteenth pick, an immediate starter and hopefully a cheap stud for the next three to four years.
At this point I have listened to a million experts tell me their inside informants’ selection for the Dolphins at pick thirteen and I’m pretty sick of all the information. I’m ready for the draft, the start of a new direction and the start of the end of mediocrity. Finally, the end of mediocrity.
I have nothing but love for any player who wore the aqua and orange and went to battle every Sunday for my franchise, and yes even Jay Cutler. But as we all know by now things were not working with Ryan Tannehill and numerous recent former Dolphins, and the fact of the matter is we suffered with the middle of the road longer than we probably should have. But it is what is was and now the future is bright.

Thursday night we will find out if the Miami Dolphins front office has learned from their mistakes or not, hopefully we will be a stronger squad on both sides of the ball when the 2019 draft comes to an end. The new regime has a ton of work to do and it all starts on Thursday night.
So, buckle up, you might be surprised who the Dolphins actually pick with their first pick, whether it’s at thirteen or elsewhere, but it does appear the Miami Dolphins are bringing a new approach and philosophy to how they plan to build a winning football team.
Can the Miami Dolphins afford to bypass on a quarterback and hope they get one next draft, because there are no guarantees that happens, or do they do everything possible now and go get their franchise guy. Time will tell and I’m ready to see how it pans out.
My hope is they select a QB and see if he can be the guy, if it doesn’t look to be working out you select another one no matter what next draft too. You create a quarterback room that has a lot of competition, something there has been none of over the last eight or so years. Competition breeds excellence and that is what is needed in Miami for sure.
Thursday night is upon us and so is the new Miami Dolphins vision, so here we go. It should definitely be exciting and reinvigorating and at the very least we will know, if the future is now or next season.
