The Miami Dolphins have added quite a bit of talent this year as they rebuild the roster but it will be the coaches themselves that make the difference.

For the Miami Dolphins, it is all about getting younger, stronger, faster, and more physical but the 2019 season that many believe will be a big wash, it will be the coaching staff and how well and how fast they can get the players integrated into their systems.

While the Dolphins do not have a ton of experienced talent they have talent nonetheless. With players on both sides of the ball ready to jump in and surprise a lot of people this upcoming season. Brian Flores will undoubtedly face rookie head coach challenges but he has a solid support system around him.

When the Miami Dolphins made Adam Gase the head coach, many expected a big change in philosophy and culture but Gase failed because he hired coaches that had little experience in their positions and failed to add coaches that could help him. He simply believed he didn’t need that help. That led him out of Miami.

Flores has hired a lot of coaches that are first-time coaches at their new position but he also added veteran coaches that can help him along the way. Patrick Flaherty is a seasoned offensive line coach but perhaps his best hire was former NFL head coach Jim Caldwell.

Caldwell will be a huge help to Flores and should be able to keep Flores from hitting those rookie head coaching bumps. He should also help Chad O’Shea with the offense as well. It was a smart move by a coach who is making smart decisions.

With so much youth on the team, the coaches need to cull that talent and fit their systems to maximize each player’s talent by putting them in positions to succeed instead of forcing them into positions they are not good at.

Offensively from Josh Rosen and Kenyan Drake to Mike Gesicki and the young receiving group, the offense has talent that O’Shea should be able to utilize well. Success may not be that far off if O’Shea can get them to buy into the system and use them to the best of their skill set.

Youth is served on defense as well where Christian Wilkins and Andrew Van Ginkel are rookies but in reality, there is still a lot of youth with Jerome Baker and Raekwon McMillan and of course Minkah Fitzpatrick.

This is not to say there are no holes left to fill, there are plenty on both sides of the ball. Miami, however, is banking on the youth movement to learn quickly and get better as each week passes. That too will be shouldered by the coaching staff.

While the Dolphins are not going to tear the NFL up this year they should be competing each and every week and there should be a noticeable difference between the team at the start and at the end of the season.

Miami will host rookies this weekend before a full team OTA that begins on Monday. It will be the first time that the 2019 Miami Dolphins will be on the field together and the first time the coaching staff can start evaluating the talent first hand.
