The Miami Dolphins had their worst loss in regular-season history on Sunday and according to a report, some players are wanting to be traded.
Following one of the ugliest games in Miami Dolphins history, paling only to the 62-7 playoff defeat in Jacksonville that marked the last game of Dan Marino, a report surfaced that several players called their agents asking them to get them out of Miami.
Last night Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, said “multiple” players following the game contacted their agents in the hopes of finding a trade out of Miami. The Dolphins are rebuilding and according to Florio, citing league sources, these players don’t believe that the Dolphins are actually trying to win.
A follow up by local media reported that after speaking with the team, the Dolphins said no one has contacted them. That doesn’t mean they won’t or that the team will tell the media if they are contacted.
The biggest question would be what players would want to be traded from this mess?
The most likely candidate would be Kenyan Drake. Drake not only didn’t start the game but he didn’t take the field until the 2nd quarter. He sat on the bench and waited. He was passed over by Kalen Ballage in camp. Despite starting the preseason games when he was healthy, Drake was not an impact player on Sunday. Not that anyone was.

Drake is on the final year of his contract and it would be surprising at this point if the Dolphins re-signed him before next season. Drake doesn’t want to sit around and wait his turn and he isn’t part of the team’s long-term rebuilding plan. If any player asked his agent to make a move, Drake stands out as the top guy who may have. Not to say that he did.
Drake finished the game with six more snap counts than Ballage, 26-20, but his involvement wasn’t what it should be.
Reshad Jones is also a guy that stands out who may not want to be a part of this rebuild. He knows that his career in Miami ends after this season. His salary is a cap concern even on a team that could have some $140 million in space next year. The problem for Jones is that he has little leverage and a contract that will be hard for another team to digest.
A third possibility and this is only speculation as are the other two, would be Albert Wilson. Wilson wants to win and the Dolphins are a few years from being truly competitive. Wilson’s contract isn’t too bad and he has a lot of upside that could benefit a receiver needy team. After losing Antonio Brown, the Raiders could be an option.
For the most part, the list might end there if any of this is true. The players with the most experience not listed here were pretty much not wanted around the NFL anyways. J’Marcus Webb, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Allen Hurns, and Daniel Kilgore.
It’s hard to imagine a player that has under fours years of NFL experience wanting out considering they are likely a part of the Dolphins rebuild or a developmental type player that has bounced around the league.
It is uncertain if any requests were made or even discussed with an agent, it could have been a knee-jerk reaction to the loss that was taken yesterday.
