The NFL hasn’t quite wrapped up week seven but most of the games that have an impact on the Miami Dolphins are in the books.

From draft pick watching to unbeaten and winless teams, there are plenty of Miami Dolphins bi-lines each Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night. Yesterday, the Dolphins got some things to go their way but not everything.

With the Steelers on a bye week, the Dolphins didn’t get to watch their first-round pick from the Steelers move up or down. Currently that pick sits at number 10 overall with a lot of football left to play.

Below the Steelers sits teams like the Chargers and Buccaneers who will win more than they have now. Next week Pittsburgh and the Dolphins will square off.

Miami lost some spots in round two as the Saints improved to 5-0 under Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater stepped in for Drew Brees who may be back in week eight and the Saints have looked just as good. The pick owned by Miami in round two is looking more and more like a very late 2nd round pick.

The other first-round pick that is owned by the Dolphins comes via the Houston Texans. For all intent and purposes it really doesn’t matter what their record is as they are expected to be a playoff team. The Texans could finish 8-8 and make the Wildcard spot which puts the lowest draft position at 20.

The Dolphins would do well to see them miss the playoffs obviously. On Sunday, the Texans lost to their division rivals, the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts, with the win, take over the lead in the division. Houston’s pick is currently 20th and the team is 4-3.  More importantly is the standings within the conference.

Houston holds the sixth seed in the AFC and while this is only week seven, this is more important to watch than simple wins and losses. Regardless the loss does help the Dolphins a bit.

The Patriots and the Jets play tonight and when the game is over it is likely that the Patriots will improve to 7-0 on the season. They will join the unbeaten 6-0 49’ers as the only two unbeaten teams in the NFL. It might be a while before anyone in Miami is popping champagne.

in Cincinnati the Bengals hosted the Jaguars and for a short while it seemed as though the Bengals might get their first win of the season. For a short while. The Jaguars won pretty easily 27-17 and the Bengals remain tied with Miami as the only two winless teams in the league.

Winning one game may make a difference down the road the Dolphins appear to be closing in on getting it together. Last week they came a two-point conversion away from winning their first game and on Sunday they held their own with Buffalo.

The race for the first pick in the draft is not just between Miami and Cincinnati however. Three teams have one win this year. The Falcons, Jets, and Redskins while seven teams have only two wins midway through the season.

The first half of the season will come to a close next weekend when the NFL puts a cap on week eight and then the push for the post-season and the draft order starts to come more into view as the weeks tick by.
