The Miami Dolphins may or may not have had interest in Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa but if after today’s injury, he may not be on any first-round boards.

Earlier today, the consensus best overall quarterback prospect, Tua Tagovailoa, was injured and may miss the rest of the season and also will likely need surgery.

There has been no official word on the extent of Tagovailoa’ injury but it is reported as a hip subluxation. Reporters on the field said that he was vocally in pain when the training staff lifted him to the cart to take him off the field. A broken hip is one of the more painful injuries a person can go through.

Some are reporting but for now it is more speculation without certainty that his injury will need to be surgically repaired and he may not be ready for the start of the 2020 season if he declares for the draft.

Teams like the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals have been popular mock draft landing spots for the Alabama quarterback. That might change after today. Tagovailoa has dealt with injuries in the past including an ankle injury that cost him two games this year.

If his draft stock does drop, and most believe that it absolutely will, the Dolphins could draft him later in the first-round and hope that he can return to form after rehabilitation. It is likely now that Joe Burrow becomes the top quarterback in this class which would put him in the sites of the Bengals.

With so many needs by the Dolphins, drafting Tagovailoa with their first pick in next years draft may be pressing their luck a bit. Of course, this is way too early to speculate on what the Dolphins draft plans will be especially given the uncertainty of Tagovailoa’s injury.

Regardless, it is not good to see one of the nations top athletes go down to a season ending injury that could now very well impact his draft status.
