The Miami Dolphins need to get better at quarterback. No, they need to solve the quarterback problem for good. Next April would be a start.

When the NFL Draft finally arrives in April of 2020, the Miami Dolphins may be the hottest team linked to every quarterback that could be coming out.

Yes, the Dolphins need a quarterback and no one is remotely surprised by this. The last decade alone saw Miami rely on Josh Rosen, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore, Chad Henne, Jay Cutler, and even Brock Osweiler. So does anyone think the Dolphins won’t address the position in the draft?

What they need to do is draft two quarterbacks if we are being honest with ourselves.

Yes, the Dolphins need to invest two draft picks in the position and if we are really going to be honest and look in the mirror and say, “yep, you are that ugly”, we need to invest two high picks in QB’s.

In round one, it is a no question scenario. Whether it is with their first, second, or third pick in the round, a quarterback has to be addressed. They can take Joe Burrow, Tua Tagoavailoa, or Justin Herbert. Whoever is there when they are on the clock.

Miami has two picks in round-two and a pick in round three as well. It is too early to know exactly where NFL teams are thinking players like Jordan Love, Jacob Eason, and Jaylen Hurts may go. Some, like Jake Fromm, could go in mid to late-round one while others may go in round two or three, or maybe even four.

Round three and four should be another QB for the Dolphins especially if any quarterback listed above happens to fall that far.

The one clear thing that has been lacking the last two decades has been competition at the position and there is no reason why Miami can’t have two rookies competing for the future of the franchise along with Josh Rosen. It may sound like overkill with so many other needs but when you look back at the QB’s that have come and gone since Dan Marino retired, we have wasted draft picks on far worse.

If the Dolphins do not draft two quarterbacks this year it would be understandable but they need to be open to the idea of taking another one in 2021. They need to take another one in 2022 and 2023 and continue to do so until they find that one player that will anchor the offense for the next decade or more.
