2013 – Fans were excited for the young quarterback’s sophomore year.  Tannehill improved by posting nearly 4000 yds (3913) with 24 tds and 17 ints.  To many fans, the future was starting to look bright. Once again the Dolphins posted a top 10 scoring defense ranking 8th overall but despite the improvement from their young quarterback the team continued their scoring struggles ranking once again in the bottom third of the league at 26th overall.  Cameron Wake again had another good year once again earning pro bowl honors. Joining him that year was the Dolphins punter Brandon Fields. Once again the Phins were in contention for a playoff spot sitting at 8-6 with two games to play. The Dolphins lost their final two games to division rivals, the Jets and Bills by a combined 39-7 to finish at .500 and outside the playoffs.

2014 – The Dolphins once again had lofty expectations entering the 2014 season.  Philbin returned for his 3rd season and fans expected Tannehill to take the next step.  Tannehill had another solid year but still left fans wanting more. Tannehill eclipsed the 4000 yd mark finishing with 4045 yds with 27 TDS and 12 ints.  The Phins offense actually outperformed the defense finishing 11th overall in points scored while the defense fell to 20th in points against. After 12 games the Dolphins were in a great position to make a playoff run sitting at 7 and 5 only to go 1 and 3 down the stretch, giving up an average of 35 points a game to finish the season once again at 8 and 8.  Fans were once again left wanting more. Cameron Wake once again represented the Dolphins at the Pro Bowl with teammate Brent Grimes joining him.
