College football’s top defensive player fits the Brian Flores Miami Dolphins mode.

Tulsa. 1. 59. Pick Analysis. ZavenCollins. player. Mock Draft. LB

The Tulsa linebacker might have helped his case more than any other linebacker in the country this season. At 6-foot-4, 260-Lbs, the linebacker has more than ideal size for a prototypical NFL linebacker.

The junior had 54 total tackles, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 4 interceptions, 2 pass deflections and 2 touchdowns in a season where he would be named College Football’s best defensive player. The three year starter turned from a tackle machine into a playmaker.

In his two prior seasons he only had 1 interception, 3.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumbles. While his tackle numbers dropped drastically, he was able to fill the stat sheet in multiple different areas.

Collins showed that he can cover, with his 5 career interceptions, he showed he can tackle, with over 200 tackles in 3 seasons , and showed he can be a playmaker with his two touchdowns. In Miami each of these would compliment nicely with Baker’s game and the Dolphins defense.

The Dolphins would more than likely need to use the 18th overall pick in order to select Collins, but after he proved he can be a playmaker all over the field, it would be worthwhile for the team.
