The Miami Dolphins can do so much with the 36th overall pick

We tend to forget that the Miami Dolphins are not just picking twice in round one but also have a top 10 pick in round two as well.

The Dolphins will pick 36th and 50th overall on day two of the draft and then for good measure will pick again in round three. We will look at 50 later but for now, 36 should provide the Dolphins with incredible talent, provided they draft the right player.

Miami needs a great draft and after taking good prospects last year, they need to take day-one starters this year with their first four picks. The question is will there be day-one starters on day two of the draft? Absolutely.

Running back is a need for the Dolphins but how much of a need Chris Grier views the position at is another story. The Dolphins could think RB is a first-round need or they could look at it as a third-round need.

Several mock drafts show the Dolphins going with a running back at 36 and that too is possible. Travie Etienne and Javonte Williams could both be in play at 36 and some national media mocks have Najee Harris sliding into round two. I don’t think that happens.

If Miami doesn’t go WR in round one, they may address the pick in round two and Kadarius Toney of Florida could stay in the Sunshine State. The “other” LSU receiver, Terrace Marshall, Jr. is also expected to go in round two and could be an option.

The offensive line has drawn a lot of attention and while many believe that the Dolphins need to address the tackle positions even after the three linemen draft last year, it is center that is a big need. There are no centers worthy of a round one grade this year but several including Landon Dickerson and Creed Humphrey could both be in play for Miami at 36 or maybe even at 50.

There is a possibility that Miami uses both first-round picks on offensive players and if they do, we can expect Grier to shift to the defensive side of the ball at least once in round two. Greggory Rousseau could be an edge option and would stay in Miami.

The Dolphins could go corner because Flores loves stocking up on cornerbacks or go safety where maybe Richie Grant may be an option. If a top corner falls from one, maybe the Dolphins jump on that as well.

Regardless, Grier has to make solid decisions on players that fit the system well and can come in and compete for playing time. Of course, Grier could also not see someone he is in love with and he could move down from 36 and still land one of the players mentioned above.
