Liam Eichenberg is the perfect fit for the Miami Dolphins offensive line
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins landed Liam Eichenberg in a trade-up during the early stages of round two and he could be the perfect fit for Miami.
Miami traded the 50th overall pick and a 3rd round pick in 2022 to move up with the New York Giants to take Eichenberg.
There is so much to like about the Notre Dame standout. He is a three-year starter with great football intelligence. His arm length is a little short for your typical tackles but he has played very well on the edge for the Fighting Irish.
Eichenberg told media after he was drafted that he will play anywhere the Dolphins ask him to play and even said they could move him to center. It’s not likely that Miami would put him there but he could be shifted inside to work at guard and we should see Miami tinker with he and Robert Hunt swapping back and forth from guard to tackle during the off-season and training camp.
Eichenberg also is old-school tough. He once finished a game with his left eye swollen shut and when asked about why he continued to play, he simply said his team needed him. This is the kind of player that Brian Flores loves, selfless team-first guys.

Miami may finally have fixed their offensive line issues and could field one of the best units they have had in a decade. Hunt, Eichenberg, Solomon Kindley, Matt Skura, and Austin Jackson should be your starting line and behind them, Michael Dieter is developing while Miami added D.J. Fluker to the roster as well.
Add Jesse Davis into the mix and you have a pretty solid front with quality depth for the first time in a long time. Davis alone can play guard and tackle and can come off the bench without needing to warm up. Overall, this unit is looking solid and if they can develop, the addition of Eichenberg could be the final piece to getting it right.
