The Miami Dolphins also received their 2021 pre-season schedule tonight and two of their three games will take place on the road.

It isn’t surprising that the Miami Dolphins will play two of their three pre-season games on the road considering they have nine home games in 2021 thanks to the expanded season to 18 weeks and 17 games.

The NFL and NFLPA agreed to cut pre-season games from four to three this past off-season after canceling all pre-season games a year ago over concerns about COVID. As part of the deal to expand the regular season, pre-season was taken back a game.

Miami will open the exhibition season on August 14th, with a trip to Chicago to play the Bears and new quarterback Justin Fields. It will be the rookie’s first NFL game. The game is scheduled for 1:00 and is on a Saturday.

The following weekend the Dolphins will host the Atlanta Falcons, one of their 2021 regular-season opponents. The Falcons will visit the Dolphins in week seven. The game, scheduled for Saturday, August 21st will be at 7:00 p.m.

Lastly, the Miami Dolphins will travel to Cincinnati to face the Joe Burrow-led Bengals in the final week of pre-season. The game will be on Sunday, August 29th at 4:00 p.m.

Following the game, the NFL will require teams to get to 53 men rosters across the league. Unlike in previous seasons, the regular season will not immediately start but instead, there will be no football following the final week of preseason for one weekend. The Dolphins’ first game will be on the 12th of September two weeks later with the first NFL game of the season kicking off the Thursday prior.
