RB Gerrid Doaks

It seems a little unfair to have a rookie on the list, but you understand why when you look at Miami’s running back room. The Miami Dolphins took running back Gerrid Doaks in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and some fans had high hopes for him.

However, Doaks is currently listed as the No. 6 running back on the roster, and it is looking like he is a long shot at making the team. Doaks needs to make some splash plays in the preseason to move up the depth chart and show he deserves a roster spot, but things did not go well for him in the first preseason game.

Yes, the offensive line was bad, but Doaks also did not show much juice when he touched the ball. His best play was one that didn’t count, as Doaks was ruled down on a play that was almost a highlight.

Running back Jordan Scarlett, who starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa loves, only had one carry but showed more juice on that play. Scarlett is currently a spot ahead of Doaks on the depth chart, and current No. 4 running back Patrick Laird also looked solid in his limited action.

Salvon Ahmed was the best running back of the day, and his stock has gone up because of it. Miami may also sign a veteran running back that is cut too, which does not bode well for Doaks.

If Doaks cannot show more and show it fast, I do not see a scenario where he makes the final roster.
