The Dolphins made a shocking move trading away Shaq Lawson to the Houston Texans for a player they would later cut. It left a hole opposite of leading sacker Emmanuel Ogbah, which would soon be filled by University of Miami standout and former number one overall high school recruit, Jaelan Phillips.

Ogbah and Phillips should work well opposite each other. Ogbah, who lead the team in sacks with 8 in 2020, returns as the team’s main pass rusher and should be able to replicate his success from a season ago. With the growth of the young front-seven and Wilkins impact in the run game, it wouldn’t be surprising if Ogabh was a league leader in sacks Ogbah should also see more help from his new running mate in Phillips.

According to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, Phillips believes he can make an impact all over the field.

“I think I’m a versatile guy,” Phillips said. “ I can kill you with speed. I can kill you with power.”

Phillips, who was the Dolphins’ second first-round pick in 2021, should see early playing time in his rookie season and should make a major impact.

Ogbah should be viewed as the top pass rusher for this year’s Phins team, but Philips should be able to contribute and make Ogbah’s job easier.
