Miami Dolphins opposing QB #5: Josh Allen

We spent the last two decades rooting against Tom Brady, but it looks as though Josh Allen is going to be the new beast to slay should the Miami Dolphins ever have any shot at the division title. Not only is Allen an MVP candidate who has taken the league by storm the last couple of seasons, but he plays his best football against the Dolphins. And that is underselling what he does to Miami.

Allen’s numbers against the Dolphins jump off the page when looking at his career splits, even when comparing them to his performances against the Jets and Patriots. He has scored 25 total touchdowns against Miami in eight games, a whopping 12 more than against any other team he has faced.

As a rookie, Allen lost his first match up with the Dolphins in December 2018, but has been in the win column in all seven games since. Some of the most disappointing losses for Miami over the last few years have come at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, and Allen has plenty to do with the success of his team.

It has been a long time since the Miami Dolphins have been regularly competitive within the division. They last won in 2008 in the only season that Brady was injured, and have been second place or worse ever since. If they ever hope to overcome their deficiencies, the first step would be figuring out how to beat the Bills more often than not. And that would mean figuring out Josh Allen, which it seems they are a long way from doing.
