The Miami Dolphins do have needs at several positions that will need to be filled in free agency or the draft.

It is important to know what the Dolphins need on the roster before jumping into a mock draft that will cover only three rounds. Rounds six and seven are so hard to predict given how much players slide from a mid-round prospect to undrafted.

It feels good to say this but right now, the Miami Dolphins do not need a quarterback. I fully expect the team to sign a free-agent veteran to back up Tua Tagovailoa. Skylar Thompson is not there yet but quarterback is not a problem heading into 2023 barring something unforeseen.

Running back, as we outlined here, is a problem because the Dolphins do not have any runners under contract heading into the 2023 season. I would think Miami would spend some money in free agency and potentially draft a runner in round six or seven, something that Chris Grier has shown a tendency to do.

Linebacker, despite adding Bradley Chubb, there is still a need to upgrade the position. The additions last year of Cameron Goode and third-round pick Channing Tindall have not produced the results Miami expected. Tindall has some growing to do but if an opportunity to draft a great prospect falls into Miami’s lap, they could take the chance.

Cornerback, as one of our contributors, spoke about this week, is a need and there are serious doubts that Byron Jones will be back with the Dolphins this year and which puts his future in question with the team beyond this season. Corner could become a big focal point for Miami this off-season.

Offensive line still remains a problem for Miami despite spending big last off-season. McDaniel needs better production to jumpstart his rushing attack.

Tight end could be and likely will be a problem for the Dolphins and Mike Gesicki is not likely to return.
