UPDATE:  For his roll in handing the Jets their season ending loss and the Dolphins 1st division championship since 2001, Chad Pennington was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week today as well.
For the second time in his career Chad Pennington has won the AP NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award.  
Pennington won the award the first time while with the NY Jets in 2006 after coming back from two rotator cuff surgeries.  This time around he cameback from being benched last year and cut two weeks before the season began.

The regular season is over and like most fans, I have been sitting in front of a television as if it were the media week prior to the Super Bowl.  With the way fans have been jumping up and down, you would think it was.  Looking for any and all news, a high-light reel, a player comment, quote, or a coaches “We need to stay focused” soundbite, has been pretty easy…once you listen to all the Dallas Cowboys blew it talk.  Still, props, a predicted victory, something that says “Hey, the Miami Dolphins are a good team”…nope.  Not a bit.

Breaking NFL news:  Mike Shanahan has been fired by the Denver Broncos.

Last night we got wind of an unconfirmed report out of ESPN that the 2010 Pro-Bowl game could be moved away from Hawaii and into south Florida.  Today, that news was confirmed.  The week before the Super Bowl, Dolphins Stadium will host the Pro-Bowl.  The Super Bowl will be played a week later at the stadium as well.
In other news, the San Francisco 49′ers have given the HC job to interim HC Mike Singletary who today quickly fired offensive coordinator Mike Martz.
From NY comes the possibility that many from the coaching staff of Eric Mangini may be canned as well [...]

The first post-season honor has been dolled out and Matt Ryan is the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.  It should be of no surprise.  The Atlanta Falcons are 11-5 and were competing in week 17, not for a wildcard birth but the division and the number 2 seed in the NFC.  While they will go in as a wildcard, the remarkable turnaround of the Falcons ranks a close second to that of the Miami Dolphins.

The first playoff game since 2001 in Dolphins Stadium is SOLD OUT.  Tickets when on sale early Monday morning and by 10AM most of the tickets were gone.  Lines formed at Dolphins Stadium where fans eager to cheer on their team stood in Dolphins gear and according to a report, one woman bought 90 tickets…can you say Ebay?
Sure you can still get tickets to this game.  The Sun-Sentinel has a few for sale…seriously.

There is a report circulating the wire that the 2010 Pro-Bowl will be played one week before the Super Bowl.  The Super Bowl is to be played in Miami and it appears that the Pro-Bowl will be as well.  This would be huge news if this report is confirmed.  
The Dolphins, in particular, owner Wayne Huizenga has been lobbying the NFL for more events at the stadium that will soon be shifted to Stephen Ross.  It appears that the hard work and dedication of the Dolphin Stadium officials may have paid off.

The Miami Dolphins took on a new look last off-season.  Bill Parcells came in and cleaned house.  Hired his guys and then canned half the teams players and brought in his style of football.  He got rid of losers and brought in guys from winning teams dipping heavily into the talent pool of the Dallas Cowboys.  Then, the one piece he apparently couldn’t find came to him wrapped in a ribbon and a bow.  A green and white one.
