The Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker has missed parts of OTA’s and individual workouts in the first day of minicamp due to an undisclosed injury. Head Coach Adam Gase expects him to be fully involved on day two.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker missed practice today with the team and instead worked on the sideline with the trainers. This is something that is not unusual to see from Parker due to his continual struggle with injuries. Last season he missed parts of training camp due to a surgery to his foot. This season he has missed parts of OTA’s due to an undisclosed injury.

In an interview after the teams first minicamp practice, Adam Gase made it clear that Parker is feeling healthy and will be a full go for the second day of minicamp. “I kind of screwed that up today because he should have gone through individual today,” Gase said. “He was cleared to do individual and I think I’m just being a little cautious. My thought process was, if I get him out better the next couple of days and get him in individual and maybe get him in a little of team period situations, that’ll help him.”

“My mind-set just keeps being of, I want him to be able to train for the next five weeks. The last thing I want to do is put him in a situation where we have one little setback and now he’s in the training room for two to three weeks or something. We have a setback and now I’m going, what did I do for? Where he could have been training for five weeks. I guess I’m being overly cautious about this and I probably just need to let him roll.”

Parker wil be able to get back to normal for the second day of minicamp. This time is crucial for DeVante because it gives him an opportunity to work on his chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill. It was clear last season that by the end of the year Parker was becoming one of Tannehill’s favorite targets. In order to continue both of their developments, they need to get time working together and getting comfortable with each others playing style.
