Fantasy preview: Ryan Tannehill

Fantasy Potential: Ryan Tannehill is the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins and the new recipient of a near 100 million dollar contract. He has gotten consistently better every year and now in Bill Lazor’s revamped offense just destroyed his career high in passing yards. This fact alone has placed squarely into the conversation of being a possible fantasy starter at QB. I would have little to no hesitation proclaiming that he would be a top 10 fantasy QB this year, and based on where you can get him that is a heck of a steal.

More from Dolphins Fantasy Football

Why: Tannehill proved a great many things last year. The first of these being that he is more than capable of being a good starter in this league. He is not elite….yet, but for Dolphin’s fans and fantasy teams everywhere hopefully this is the year that he makes that leap. He also showed us that he has a serious set of wheels on him, which to be quite frank we should have expected given that he was a receiver in college for a couple of years because although he was brought in as a QB at the time since he was not going to start over the Senior so in order to help his team he temporarily switched to WR. Mike Sherman explained all of this to everyone yet it is still a virtual certainty that every single broadcast of a Dolphins game will make some mention of this at some point or another. Explanations aside Tannehill has been put in a position to do even better than last year. Aside from the general growth associated with another year in the league, this is also his second year in this offense. His weapons now fit him better than ever having an arsenal of receivers that fit his strengths perfectly and with the additions of Jordan Cameron and Devante Parker he finally has the height in the redzone that has been absent his whole career. A solid running game and a decent line should also help his conquest to build off of last year.

In all but a few mock drafts that I have participated in Tanne has still been on the board in the 13th round, which could make him one of the big steals of this years draft.
