The Miami Dolphins pick 13th in this months draft but a shake-up at the top could impact what the team does at 13.

More from Dolphins Draft

There are rumors circulating ahead of the draft later this month that the Philadelphia Eagles are talking with the Tennessee Titans about moving up to the number one draft slot. The Eagles moved from 13 to 8th overall after their trade with the Dolphins that sent Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell to Miami. If the Eagles do indeed move up to one, the impact could filter to the Dolphins at 13.

The Eagles are interested in quarterback Carson Wentz but to get him they would need to jump in front of the Browns who are at number two. The Titans are reportedly not sold on Laremy Tunsil at number one and believe that left tackle Ronnie Stanley could be just as good and available at the 8th spot. If they do in fact pull the trigger.

Assuming that this does in fact happen, the draft could change. Wentz would go number one, the Browns could look at Joey Bosa or Jalen Ramsey at number two. With Joe Thomas at left tackle, and the Browns not likely to move on from him this year, Laremy Tunsel would likely fall to San Diego who needs offensive line help. The Chargers could also go with either Bosa or Ramsey depending on what the Browns do.

The Cowboys pick 4th and while they need to address quarterback at some point, many believe that their target is Myles Jack but if Ramsey or Bosa are still on the board, that could change. The Cowboys biggest need is corner and Ramsey can play both safety and corner but many believe he will be better as a safety.

Jacksonville who selects 5th would almost certainly jump at Myles Jack if he is on the board and if the Browns go Bosa, Chargers go Tunsil, and Cowboys go Jack, then Jacksonville will take Ramsey. If Ramsey is gone, Jack could be available.

Baltimore at number six will hold a lot of cards here. They have many needs and could take Ezekiel Elliot, whoever of the top six is still remaining, could go Ronnie Stanley, or even defensive end/tackle where many mocks have the Ravens taking DeForrest Buckner. What the Ravens do here could impact who falls to Miami at 13.

San Francisco will almost certainly go quarterback with the 7th overall pick unless Dallas surprises everyone and takes Jared Goff at the 4th spot. It’s unlikely but it is Jerry Jones. At 8, Tennessee would have a shot, a likely shot depending on Baltimore, to get Ronnie Stanley. With the Eagles gone from the 8th position, Elliot could fall out of the top 10.

Tampa Bay will likely stay put at 9 and in all likelihood stay in Florida and take Vernon Hargreaves, III. At 10 it gets dicey again for Miami, if Elliot is their target. The Giants need a running back but they also have other needs including linebacker, wide-receiver, and offensive line. The Giants spent a lot of money this off-season. There likely won’t be value at 10 for a linebacker. Jack will be gone and Ragland who is listed as the number two likely linebacker to get drafted isn’t ranked in the top 10. Wide-receiver is a possibility and the Giants need to get outside help for Eli Manning. But this is the spot that Elliot could get drafted.

At 11 and 12 the Bears and Saints are not likely drafting a running back and both will more than likely turn to the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback is a real possibility for both teams but so is defensive end and there should be some very good DE’s on the board at this point of the draft.

That leaves the Dolphins at 13 where Ezekiel Elliot could be in play. Again this is all predicated on three things happening. The Eagles move up to the first spot and both the Ravens and Giants draft something other than Elliot. With the shake up at the top, more talent will fall that initially wasn’t expected to given Laremy Tunsil not being taken in the first two spots. It could get interesting as some teams may try to move up or even down.
