The Dolphins will get their rematch with the Patriots this Monday night. Not many are giving the Dolphins a chance, even with Rob Gronkowski out on suspension, but are there any Dolphins players worth rostering this week in fantasy leagues?

The Miami Dolphins finally ended their five-game losing streak last week with a 35-9 pounding on the Denver Broncos. Miami could very well begin another losing streak this week, however, when the Patriots come to town. The Dolphins have been dreadful in primetime games this year, and many believe that it will be much of the same this Monday night.

Despite the fact that the Dolphins don’t have much of a chance at pulling out a victory on Monday, it doesn’t necessarily mean that fantasy owners should leave players on the bench this week. The Patriots defense has improved as the season has gone on, but they’re far from elite. Most of you are starting your fantasy playoffs this week so it’s highly important to make the right decision. Here’s a look at which Dolphins are worth the start this week.

Jay Cutler

Cutler missed the first meeting with the Patriots two weeks ago with a concussion. He faired rather well in his return last week, despite two interceptions, one getting returned for a pick six. Exceeding 300 yards passing in just one game this season, Cutler is not a fantasy option in any way, and should be avoided at all cost.

Sit

Kenyan Drake

Drake was even better than expected in Week 13 against a very good Broncos defense. That didn’t stop him from running all over the Broncos for 120 yards off 23 carries, including a 42-yard touchdown run. Drake has been a great fantasy add for those who scooped him up after the Jay Ajayi trade. The Dolphins may have received poor compensation in return for Ajayi, but Drake has proven himself in his absence, and given Miami a respectable run game again.

More from Dolphins Fantasy Football

Drake’s fantasy value boomed last week with the absence of Damien Williams, and there’s a chance that the Dolphins could be without Williams again as he continues to recover from a dislocated shoulder. Should Williams indeed miss again, Drake becomes a back-end RB1, but regardless, Drake should be starting in any format.

Start

Jarvis Landry

Landry was fairly quiet by his standards against Denver, but still finished with five receptions for 62 yards. Against New England in Week 12, he had eight receptions for 70 yards, and that’s about what we can expect from Landry again on Monday night. That sort of production makes him an easy start. Landry found the end zone in Miami’s last two primetime games so if he can make it three in a row, fantasy owners should be more than pleased.

Start

Kenny Stills

There’s no debating anymore as to who is Miami’s #2 receiver as Stills has clearly emerged in that role over DeVante Parker. Parker has just one reception in each of Miami’s last two games, and is off the fantasy radar for the playoffs. Stills, on the other hand, continues to prove game after game that re-signing him was the right call by the Dolphins staff. Last week, he had a staggering 13 targets, more than double the next Dolphins receiver (Landry – 6).

Although he caught just five of those targets, he did turn it into 98 yards and a score for a very pleasing fantasy day. Stills had somewhat of a quiet day two weeks ago against New England, but I think he will have another breakout performance this time around.

Start

Julius Thomas

Thomas salvaged his fantasy day last week with a 9-yard score. He now has three touchdowns in the last five games after going the first seven without one. He’s definitely been more involved in the offense as of late, becoming the red zone target the Dolphins wanted him to be when they traded for him. Thomas had a respectable day in the last meeting with New England, finishing with 52 yards off of five catches with no scores. He remains a risky play, however, and is only worth streaming if there are no other options.

Sit

Defense

I knew that the Dolphins defense might find some success against Denver’s terrible offense, but I didn’t expect that much success. Despite the matchup, I was still against starting Miami’s defense in Week 13 because of their recent struggles. Hopefully, you went against my advice as the defense finished first in fantasy points last week. Reality is likely to set back in this week with the Patriots coming to town. The Patriots will be without Rob Gronkowski, but this situation is an easy one to avoid.
