Round 5, Pick 16

The Dolphins defensive line has looked better in recent weeks but the team still ranks 30th in rush defense.  Resigning John Jenkins would be a good idea in free agency but drafting DT McTelvin Agim would help build depth.

In four years at Arkansas, Agim has led the team in ‘tackles for loss’ the last two seasons while putting up good sack numbers from the defensive tackle position.  Plus, at 6’3″ and 294 pounds, Agim would make a good DE when Flores decides to run a 3-4 defense.

Round 5, Pick 28

Regardless of who plays quarterback for the Dolphins in 2020, the team will need a running game to help support him.  The current running back situation is filled with ‘serviceable’ backs that are best suited for part-time duty.

For the fifth time in six years, the Dolphins will select a running back by drafting Zack Moss, out of Utah.  If selected, Moss would come to Miami averaging nearly six yards-per-carry and having scored double-digit touchdowns the past three years.  Because Moss has suffered from injuries the past two seasons, this highly productive back is available in the 5th round.

Round 5, Pick 34

To this point, we have addressed the tackle position with a “Prince” and the guard position by moving Davis back to his natural position.  Finally, we can address the center position.

Clemson C, Sean Pollard, could be groomed to replace the soon-to-be 32-year-old Kilgore; who does not fit into the Dolphins “youth movement”.  Pollard was just converted from guard to center this past year by Clemson so the 6’5″ 311-pound youngster could use another season learning the position.

There you have it!  With 10 picks, the Dolphins have found their “quarterback of the future”, a promising/productive pass rusher, a versatile ‘chess piece’ at linebacker, added depth and talent to their secondary and all along their offensive line.  And, just think, they still have two rounds to go…
