The Miami Dolphins are wasting no time with their draft picks this year. Today the Phins added 4th rounder Shawn Murphy to the roster with an undisclosed contract. Murphy joins 5 other rookies who have inked with the Phins leaving only 3 left.
2nd round selections Phillip Merling and Chad Henne along with 3rd round pick Kendall Langford remain the only rookies left to sign.

The Don Talks With ESPN Radio
Don Shula phoned in to ESPN760.com yesterday for a chat about the Miami Dolphins situation, his restaraunts, and of course his opinion on the Jason Taylor situation. Here is the audio of that interview.

Taylor Speaks
Jason Taylor has finally said something about football. The Miami Dolphins have still said nothing more than he won’t be at camp. Jason Taylor says football starts in July. The Dolphins say they have an early June mandatory mini-camp. See where the problem is in all of this?
At least one of JT’s excuses is somewhat legitimate. Jason will miss this Monday’s OTA to attend his annual charity golf-tournament. Jason had to have the tournement date locked down prior to the Dolphins releasing their off-season work schedule. Since the OTA is not mandatory and the event is pre-booked and charitable…JT shouldn’t [...]
Phins Lose 2 Players
The Miami Dolphins have two roster changes this week as they release injured WR Tab Perry and waive good-bye to undrated free agent rookie signee Kory Robertson who announced that football was not for him and quit.
The moves are no surprises. With the NFL allowing 80 man rosters in the off-season and unsigned rookies not counting in that figure, the Dolphins were at 80 with the recent draft signings. They are now back under 80 which means that when they sign 2 more rooks they will not have to cut a member of the roster.
Matt Ryan signed a record deal for a number 3 overall pick when he signed a whopping 72 million dollar contract only two weeks ago. Now, the problem is that the team holding the number 2 overall pick, the St. Louis Rams, have a problem on their hands. Getting Chris Long under contract closer to Miami Dolphin rookie Jake Long rather than Matt.
The dilemma rises from the fact that Miami managed to get their number 1 overall pick signed for 57.75 mill, traditionally, salaries tend to lower with each subsequent pick. In the case of top 5 QB that is not [...]
Marlin Briscoe: The Film Project
Years ago, the story of Marlin Briscoe’s life was confined to the pages of a paperback autobiography, The First Black Quarterback. Those pages caught the eye of a few prominent Omaha, Nebraska natives. What began as a simple explanation of the life of Marlin “the Magician” Briscoe was now in the hands of 3 individuals who felt compelled to make that a story for film. David B. Clark, John Beasley and Terry Hanna formed West Omaha Films, LLC in an effort to bring this story from pages to film.
The story of Marlin Briscoe is not just an unfolding story with [...]
O.k. maybe not, but apparently, the Brown family, who owns the Cincy Bengals, not to be be compared to the Cincinatti “you can’t use our name, image, or anything else“ Bengals, is throwing a huge party this weekend that could easily rival any NFL Super Bowl victory celebration.
The has announced that it will not punish teams with fines for player infractions that have already occurred. You go Mikey! If I were you, I would go to Disneyland! (the smaller of the two parks).
Disclaimer: The word Cincinnati was deliberately misspelled to avoid legal issues as the team is currently targeting blog networks who use their product and [...]
Water Rising Around Will Allen
Will Allen has some ’splainin’ to do. The troubles that the Miami Dolphins starting CB recently got in while standing in the parking lot of a Bed, Bath, and Beyond, now seems to be nothing compared to the rising water around the starter.
Forget about the questions of whether there was in fact a gun involved, Allen is soon going to be answering some tougher questions about the money that supposedly was at the heart of the argument to begin with and he could find himself watching the first few games of the season from his couch at home.
To back track [...]
Starting a new feature here on Phinphanatic.com is not always easy. ATW: Around the Web, was around for awhile and then the NFL.com guys decided to take the name from us. NFL losers…LOL. But here we are kicking around more ideas for to encourage you to tell us what you think. O.k. it’s a cheap way to get you to post in our comments section and for me to do less work.
So this week, we start a new feature. Weekly Thoughts. I will present you with a player or a coach and a little bit about why they are this [...]

All-Time Roster Adds Two More
Over on the Phinphanatic.com official forum, Fan-sided Forums, an All-Star Miami Dolphins All-Time team is being voted on. Last week, Larry Csonka won the RB spot while Ricky Williams took spot number 2.
This week we added two more players to the All-Time list. QB Dan Marino was a no brainer. We decided since Dan the Man would be a run away, that voting for an all time backup QB would be fun. No long time starters allowed. With that vote came a race between Earl Morral who guided Miami to an undefeated regular season and his very own protege Don [...]
Phins Sign 6Th Rounder
The Miami Dolphins have signed 6th round pick Donald Thomas. Thomas a walkon guard at UConn is the 5th draft pick the Phins have under contract. Thomas is very athletic but a project.
In other news, add the Baltimore Ravens to the list of teams rumored to be interested in the services of Jason Taylor. While the team has claimed no talks have taken place, a local radio station is saying they have.
