Jimmy Johnson makes sweeping changes to his coaching staff including the promotion of Kippy Brown to OC
March 23rd
Amidst rumors that Jimmy Johnson wanted to step down, he signs a one year contract to remain with the team through 1999
August 1st
Dwight Stephenson is enshrined in Canton
November 29th
Dan Marino with a strike to O.J. McDuffie becomes the first quarterback in history to throw for 400 touchdowns

January 2nd
The Dolphins defeat the Bills 24-17 in the first round of the AFC playoffs. It’s the teams first playoff win since 1994
January 14th
Dave Wannstedt is named the teams assistant head coach
June 15th
Dan Marino signs a contract extension through 2001.
September 13th
The Dolphins beat the Super Bowl defending Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football to earn the franchises 300th regular season victory
October 17th
Dan Marino completes his only pass in a game against New England. He would injure his shoulder on the next play and miss the next five games. The pass however puts Marino over 60,000 yards passing on his career. Damon Huard would play the rest of the game and lead the Dolphins to a victory.
December 5th
Nat Moore is enshrined in the Dolphins Ring of Honor
December 21st
Sam Madison becomes the first ever Dolphins cornerback to be voted to the Pro-Bowl. He joins fellow Dolphins Zach Thomas and kicker Olindo Mare on the AFC squad
