Reviewing The First Half of The Season

AUTHOR: davey | IN: Dolphins, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

So, we’ve reached the halfway point of the season already and with the bye week coming up, it’s a perfect time to review Miami’s play so far this year.
I’m just going to keep it simple by listing things that have gone wrong (there is plenty), things that have gone good (there has to be at least one right?) and how I see things play out down the road.
Since we’re 0-8, it’s obvious that there’s been plenty of negatives and I guess I’ll get those out of the way first…

Still No Commitment to Beck

AUTHOR: davey | IN: Dolphins, Team Info | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

With Miami sitting at 0-8 and heading into their bye week, most of us are thinking that John Beck’s time is now. He has the extra week to prepare, Miami will be playing at home against a Buffalo team that has struggled this year and most importantly…there’s basically nothing left to lose anymore.
But the Miami Herald tells us today that coach Cameron has not committed to Beck yet.
”I don’t have that answer right now,” said Cameron, when asked how close Beck is to playing. “This is an opportunity through the bye week to step back, look at some things, see [...]

Phinatic Pheature: One on One With Hall of Famer Larry Csonka

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 18 Comments

I have to say that I have enjoyed the previous interviews with members of the Miami Dolphins that I have done. All of which have been insightful, enjoyable, and had, to some degree, an element that made my nerves a little uneasy. If for no other reason than the fact that I am Brian Miller, a stay at home father, paramedic by trade, Miami Dolphins fan, and NOT some ESPN guy or some local news reporter. I’m just a very big fan of the Miami Dolphins.
So when I thought about contacting the representatives for former Miami Dolphin [...]

Flip That Offense

AUTHOR: johnwhite | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

I was seated comfortably on the couch, potato chips in hand, watching last Sunday’s debacle versus the Patriots when I saw and heard something that nearly had me coughing up cheese and sour cream – Dan Dierdorf was saying some really nice things about the Miami Dolphins’ offensive line! I couldn’t believe my ears. This unit that was rebuilt from scratch in the offseason suddenly garnered some praise from somebody…ANYBODY!! I knew it couldn’t be true but it was. So, how is it that a team with a young and improving offensive line could possibly be 0-7? Well, we’ve already [...]

Lorenzo Booker Active, Allen to Start Today for Miami

AUTHOR: davey | IN: Dolphins, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

Lorenzo Booker is finally active today for the Dolphins meaning that there’s a chance that we might see him on the field today. For all of us that have been waiting for Booker to get some action, today might be the day.
Speaking of getting action, Jason Allen will get his first NFL start today and that’s something that I have been hoping for for a while now. This team is not going anywhere, so what will it hurt to start Allen and see what he can bring to this team? It’s now or never for him and hopefully he can [...]

The "Tuna" to become "Albacore"? New Phins GM?

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins, Rumors | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

They call Bill Parcells the “Tuna“, but that could change this off-season and Bill may change his name to “The Albacore“.  Albacore is the type of tuna that is caught in Dolphin friendly nets.  Seems like a logical change if Parcells becomes the next GM for the Miami Dolphins.  As it is rumored.
According to, once again, Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports, sources close to the Tuna have said that Bill has expressed interest in the Dolphins not yet vacated GM job.  But not as a HC.
According to this report, Parcells has a good relationship with Wayne Huizenga and has played golf [...]

Lemons' Last Start?

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins, Rumors | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

There is a rumor going around that this weekend will be the last game for Cleo Lemon as a starter.  According to a report by Jason “I’m glad I don’t cover the Miami Dolphins” Cole, sources from high up in the Dolphins management have told him that rookie John Beck will start the game vs. Buffalo and that the last 8 games will be an opportunity to see if Beck can be a franchise QB or if the position will need to be addressed in the draft next year…presumably referring to Louiville QB Brian Brohm.
If this turns out to be [...]

Has the Nightmare Gotten This Bad?

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Dolphins, NFL, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

The good news: Phin Phanatic was featured in a piece (written by one of our own) over at Epic Carnival (atta boy, Davey!)
The bad news: The Miami Dolphins were the focus of a satirical NFL films’ film called The Nightmare Way Before Christmas.
Here are some of the quotes, which we must admit made us chuckle just a bit:
“The Dolphins qualify as the most woeful and embarrassing product exported from South Florida since rapper Vanilla Ice.” – Charles Elmore, Palm Beach Post
“It’s just such a numb feeling. You sit here, you look for the little bright spots to hold [...]

Dolphins Claim Samkon Gado off Waivers

AUTHOR: davey | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Dolphins have claimed former Texans running back Samkon Gado off of waivers according to the Sun-Sentinel. Gado won’t be traveling with the team to London as his paperwork was not in order yet.
Gado made a splash in 2005 when he played for the Packers and replaced an injured Ahman Green. He played in 8 games and rushed for 582 yards and 6 touchdowns while getting the start 5 times. He was then traded to the Texans in 2006 but he fell out of favor and was released on Tuesday after averaging 2.6 yards per carry this season.
Gado, 24, will [...]

Quick Hits

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

Hello all, I am out of town this week, visiting the in-laws in Cleveland but will be trying my best to keep this updated as much as I can as Miami Dolphins news warrants.  For now, here are some quick hits for the Friday morning.
1:  The Larry Csonka interview is completed and will be up early next week.  More likely on Tuesday.
2:  Zach Thomas will not play against the Giants in London as he will stay at home following a car accident while driving home from last weeks game.  Although the injury is not considered serious, he is suffering from [...]

Flip This Defense

AUTHOR: johnwhite | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

After an 0-7 start, it’s time to take a critical look at this team…maybe even an “A & E” type look.  The Miami Dolphins are bad…wait, terrible…uuummm, horrible!  We’ve reached the point that our team is a punch line.  Yesterday during a segment on a popular NFL postgame show this question was raised, “Who wins first, St. Louis or Miami?”  The answer?  “St. Louis!  Those ARE the Dolphins afterall!”  Sad isn’t it?  But sad doesn’t even begin to describe the mess this team is in.  And now is the time to begin making the tough decisions and start the youth movement.  It’s time [...]

The Draft it is A'changin

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NFL Draft is changing. The Miami Dolphins, who may very well have the top pick in the next draft could be the first team team to feel its full effects.
On Tuesday, the NFL announced that it will change aspects of the draft to make it more “streamlined”, apparently a nod towards the sleek streamlined shape of a “cough” Dolphin.
Instead of the draft starting at the normal 12:00 Pm, it will not start at 3:00 Pm, so let your wives know to take the late shift.
In addition to the change in start time, the NFL has reduced the amount [...]

Writing Has Been Though These Days

AUTHOR: davey | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Everyone that writes about sports has their own style, just like with everything else. Some like to analyze numbers, some report the news, some bring humor and there are certainly more categories than just those.
I admit, you can call me a “homer”. I love writing about the teams I follow and I’m not ashamed of that. But being such a homer has an upside and a definite downside. When the teams are going good, the writing comes easily and flows like this lady’s hair. That said, when the teams are going crappy, writing becomes hard and awkard, much like when [...]
