The Dolphins today added 5 of the 8 players they will have to fill out the practice squad. All 5 are from their own list of cuts. The Phins may wait until tomorrow to add the remaining three who very well could come in the form of Anthony Armstrong, Trey Darilek, and Rob Ninkovich.
CB – Will Billingsley
RB – Lex Hilliard
WR – Jayson Foster
TE – Matt Mulligan
T – Darren Heerspink
Phins Waive 2 More
The waiving of Anthony Armstrong was the first in what so far has amounted to three total waivers today. Adding LB Rob Ninkovich and guard Trey Darilek to the waiver wire.
While Ninkovich is not a surprise to me, Darilek is the first surprise to me of any of the cuts. Only a month ago Darilek was the starting RG. He was replaced in training camp by rookie Donald Thomas who never let it go. The two were waived to bring in OG/C Andy Allerman and T Nate Garner off waivers from New Orleans and the NY Jets repectively.

UPDATED
The ending that Miami Dolphins WR Anthony Armstrong dreaded occured less than 24 hours after finding out that he had made the team. Today, he was cut to make room for WR Brandon London.
Armstrong 25 could be added to the Phins 8 man practice squad should he clear waivers. London, formerly of the NY Giants was waived as part of the G-Men’s cut down to 53. The UMass prospect signed as a free agent with NY last season but was on their practice squad until February.
Considered a good prospect, it will be interesting to see what Miami does with him [...]
Ricky Signs New Deal
The Miami Dolphins brass have seen fit to reward Ricky Williams for an off-season worth of trust agreeing to a 1 year extension through 2009. While there is no signing bonus attatched to the deal, his base salary of just over 780,000 is expected to increase significantly.
It is unlikely that anything beyond this year is guaranteed and with no signing bonus the Phins have a safety net should Ricky get into league trouble. So far Ricky has been a model player that Bill Parcells has really enjoyed. The team has not released any formal announcment as of yet. The information [...]
The Miami Dolphins are now at the 53 man limit. Today, they released the final 17 players needed to make the move and will now begin the task of putting together their practice squad. The final cuts are no real surprises.
Gone today are FB Reagan Mauia and RB Lex Hilliard a late day 2 draft pick this year. On the line, the Phins said good-bye to recently signed Pedro Sosa, Matt Spanos, and Mike Byrne, along with Darren Heerspink, leaving the Phins line a bit thin. WR Jayson Foster and TE Matt Mulligan were cut and TE Justin Peele had [...]
Cuts Are Beginning To Filter In
UPDATED: Mike Byrne, Maurice Fountain, Matt Spanos have all been cut. We are at 66 at the moment.
Updated: Reagan Mauia has been cut…JuggerNOT. Reagan started 9 games last year as a 6th round draft pick but made little impact as a rookie and showed a propensity to miss blocks and drop passes. The release means that the Phins will give a roster spot and the starting FB job to Boomer Grigsby.
The Miami Dolphins will go into the week with only 4 safeties on their roster. Courtney Bryan was released this morning per a text message he sent to local media [...]
Banner Announcments
We here at Phinphanatic really appreciate you, the reader, getting involved to make this site not just ours, but yours. The original intention. You have taken our challenge of forming the banner above into a reader inspired image to represent our site to the mass of readers who visit from other teams. So thank you!
We have two banner announcements to make.
The banner has been voted on, results below, and in a close race, you have decided to put a cheerleader in the place of Jason Taylor. The image of that cheerleader will be selected and impressed above for the season [...]
If you have ever played sports in High-School or College….or even professionally, there is always that one day you hate. The final cut. Today, the dreams of about 500 NFL “want to be’s” will end between now and 4.
For the Miami Dolphins, that number is 17, according to the official team sites roster.
They have worked hard. Endured yelling, screaming, fighting, the heat, the wind, and the rain…and after today, it will mean little. For many through out the NFL it will simply be something to talk about back home, a bar story that starts with, “…and this one time, at [...]

Breaking News: McCown Traded
UPDATE: The trade if for a 7th round draft pick
Today, the Miami Dolphins took the first step in trimming their roster to 53 by trading QB Josh McCown to the Carolina Panthers for an undisclosed compensation. The Phins have been the subject of many rumors regarding their bottom two QB’s.
QB Matt Moore of the Panthers went down last night with and injury prompting the Cats to look elsewhere. Rather than wait for the cuts to see what floated up, they called Miami.
McCown only took 10 snaps in 4 pre-season games.
More on this story as it develops.
Call me a fool, but I’m sorry, when it comes to fantasy football, keep it in the NFL, and keep your college fantasies focused on the cheerleaders.
The NCAA is currently working toward that very outcome. While I rarely agree with much that NCAA tries to do in collegiate sports, this time, I agree with them completely.
This season, CBSSportsline will offer up the college fantasy leagues with terms like “transfer” instead of trade and “walk-on’s” instead of free agents. Make no mistake though, this is a risky business that can have some very negative results.
Pre-Season Is OVER!
Let the games begin. With tonight New Orleans Saints game the Miami Dolphins finished off a meaningless 3 and 1 pre-season. The next chapter starts tomorrow as teams across the NFL pare down to 53, the final 53. Tonight the Phins won an over matched contest of their 1st teamers against the Saints backups 14-10.
With the pre-season now over, so goes the off-season. Starting Sunday, the team will begin working toward the opening weekend volley against the NY Jets.
I have yet to watch tonights game, and in all honesty, I rarely watch the 4th pre-season game as the real deal [...]
